Kate Harry Shipham

Kate Harry Shipham is a Senior Recruiting Manager based in Chicago and specializes in placing middle and senior level law firm marketing and business development talent across the U.S. Kate has invested the majority of her education and career working for law firms, and sees this foundation and experience as critical in understanding her clients’ legal marketing needs.

Kate procures talent for large and small marketing departments nationally. Law firms seek her counsel on cultural issues and the nuances of candidates based on knowledge gained from her in-house experience, along with the credibility she brings from having seen both sides of the business. Candidates leverage Kate’s knowledge and strong market data and influences to talk through their professional growth, resume crafting and the career path guidance based on their experience and goals.

Prior to joining JJES, Kate worked for JJES’s Asia-Pacific strategic alliance partner (Seldon Rosser), and joined JJES in a move from Australia to the U.S. She has been in the legal world for ten years, seven of those as a practicing attorney focusing on commercial dispute litigation, and three years as an executive search professional in the legal marketing space.

A believer in “you get what you give”, Kate is committed to contributing to her industry in a meaningful way. Kate is an active member of the Legal Marketing Association and is currently serving on the Board of Directors for the Midwest Chapter. She is also serving as Chair of the Chapter’s Your Honor Awards program.  In her previous life as a lawyer, Kate also enjoyed being the President of the Young Lawyers Section for the Law Institute of Victoria (2009) to provide up-and-coming lawyers a wide support network and professional development opportunities to supplement their careers. Kate has also authored several articles that have been published in Australia and in the U.S.

Kate holds a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Monash University in Melbourne, Australia, and resides in Lincoln Park with her husband.
